The Number of Drinks and Shots in A Bottle of Jack Daniel’s

Maybe you’re throwing a party or maybe you want to know exactly how long it will take you to finish a bottle by yourself, either way it can be very useful to know exactly how many drinks and shots there are in a bottle of jack Daniel’s whiskey.

There are 12 drinks of 2fl oz in a 750ml bottle of Jack Daniel’s, and 11 drinks of 2fl oz in a 700ml bottle of Jack Daniel’s. There are 16 1.5fl oz shots in a 750ml bottle of Jack Daniel’s, and 15 1.5fl oz shots in a 700ml bottle of Jack Daniel’s.

With different drink sizes and different bottle sizes, it can be difficult to know exactly how many drinks or shots there are in a bottle of Jack Daniel’s. Fortunately, I’ve simplified everything.

Calculating the Drinks & Shots in a Bottle of Jack Daniel’s

Obviously to calculate the number of drinks and shots in a bottle of Jack Daniel’s you divide the size of the bottle by the size of the drink. The problem is that there are many variations of both. Fortunately, we can narrow things down a bit.

When it comes to the size of your drink there are standard sizes:

  • The standard size for a neat drink of Jack Daniel’s is 2fl oz (59ml).
  • The standard sizes for a shot of Jack Daniel’s are 1fl oz (29.5ml) or 1.5fl oz (44.3ml).

Now these are precise amounts, but that doesn’t mean you need to measure out your drinks exactly. If you’re only approximating the amount you pour, you can just use the following number of drinks in a bottle of Jack Daniel’s, as approximates too.

When it comes to Jack Daniel’s bottle sizes, there’s far more variation:

  • 3L – large
  • 1.75L– large
  • 1L– large
  • 750ml – standard US
  • 700ml – standard EU
  • 500ml – miniature
  • 375ml – miniature
  • 350ml – miniature
  • 200ml – miniature
  • 50ml – miniature

Now you know all the variations, all you need to do is divide all the bottle sizes by all the drink sizes and you’ve got the number of drinks and shots in a bottle of Jack Daniel’s. But you don’t actually need to do that because I’ve done all the work for you.

The Number of Drinks in a Bottle of Jack Daniel’s

With one standard size for a neat drink of Jack Daniel’s (2fl oz / 59ml), the only factor that varies when working out the number of drinks in a bottle of Jack Daniel’s whiskey, is its size.

There are 12 drinks of 2fl oz in a 750ml bottle of Jack Daniel’s, and 11 drinks of 2fl oz in a 700ml bottle of Jack Daniel’s. There are 50 drinks of 2fl oz in a 3-liter bottle of Jack Daniel’s, and less than one standard drink in a 50ml bottle of Jack Daniel’s.

The table below shows the number of 2fl oz / 59ml drinks in every size bottle of Jack Daniels.

Bottle SizeNumber of drinks

1.75L29.6
1L16.9

700ml11.8
500ml8.5
375ml6.3
350ml5.9
200ml3.4
50ml0.8

As you can see, the number of drinks in the two standard Jack Daniel’s bottle sizes is about 12. I have to confess that when I first saw that number, I was surprised. To my untrained eye, I imagined you could pour at least 25 drinks from a 750ml or 700ml bottle of Jack Daniel’s. Turns out the number of drinks in a bottle of Jack Daniel’s is half what I thought and costs twice as much.

It’s useful to know the exact number of drinks in a bottle of Jack Daniel’s because you’ll be able to work out how long it will last. (12 drinks = not long at all). And if it’s been open for a while, you’ll be able to work out how much more Jack Daniel’s you need to drink to ensure that you finish it before it oxidizes.

And if you’re having a party and want to share your whiskey, you’ll also be able to calculate how many bottles of Jack Daniel’s you’ll need.

The following table shows the number of 750ml bottles of Jack Daniel’s you’ll need, depending on the number of people you’re expecting and the number of drinks they’ll be having:

The Number of Shots in a Bottle of Jack Daniel’s

Working out the number of shots in a bottle of Jack Daniel’s is a little more complicated, because both the drink size and the bottle size vary.

There are 25 1fl oz shots in a 750ml bottle of Jack Daniel’s, and 23 1fl oz shots in a 700ml bottle of Jack Daniel’s. There are 16 1.5fl oz shots in a 750ml bottle of Jack Daniel’s, and 15 1.5fl oz shots in a 700ml bottle of Jack Daniel’s.

The table below shows the number of 1 & 1.5fl oz shots in every size bottle of Jack Daniels.

375ml12.78.5
350ml11.87.9
200ml6.84.5
50ml1.71.1

As you can see, there are only four or five more shots in the two standard size bottles of Jack Daniel’s than neat drinks, unless you use the smaller size shot which gives you twice as many shots than neat drinks, but only because they’re half the size.

Once again, it’s useful to know the exact number of shots in a bottle of Jack Daniel’s so that you know how long you can expect it last, and so that you can calculate how many bottles of Jack Daniel’s you’ll need if the people at your party are drinking shots.

The following table shows the number of 750ml bottles of Jack Daniel’s you’ll need, depending on the number of people you’re expecting and the number of (1.5fl oz) shots they’ll be having:
